Waiting. Simply waiting. It was boring, but she had no choice. Valkari had been tracking this magnificent buck for quite a while, and she figured this was the spot he always came to for grazing. As she stayed crouched on a tree, careful of her balance, she readied her bow and eyed the semi opened land with sharp icy blue eyes. It was good she was observant, otherwise she might as well give up on her hunt while she could, for being as observant as she was scored her game, and food for a week or two.
There he was. A beautiful tall buck trotting in like no on was there to stop him. No one was, but someone was there to kill him. Valkari waited for a few moments, waiting for the perfect time to take a shot. For Valkari, it had to be a perfect blow to the temple, otherwise he would run away and she would have to track him down ... again.
Finally, the buck stood in a position perfect enough for her to shoot. 'Steady ...' she thought to herself as she pulled her sharp steel arrow back past her head. Her eyes trained on her mark. 'Aim .... and ....' The arrow wizzed down from the tree, cutting through the buck's temple and ending up a little ways on the other side of his head. Happy with her results, she jumped down the tree and made her way to her prize. Skin and meat, something she valued highly upon. The part the freckled Nord didn't like, however, was skinning the deer. Ah well, it was good for her because of the meats and hide she recieves afterwards. Sliding out her steel dagger, she began cutting through the buck's skin to get to the meat.

That was right, someone was there to kill to the buck, or two someones. Sigmundr was a little farther back then the girl and in a different position. He too had been tracking the deer but he temporarily lost him when he had to go around Troll territory, as the buck went through it. Sigmundr himself was kneeling amongst shrubbery, with his recurved hunting bow out with a single iron arrow nocked and drawn. His fur cloak was adorned with dead leaves and twigs, camouflaging himself. He had only been a second too late in firing. In retrospect, he did hear a slight twang before letting the arrow go. That must have been the other hunter.
Sig's arrow flew true, or would have. His trained eyes spotted the buck going down but he knew it wasn't from his arrow. His own had shot through where the deer's head had been and continued for a few meters before dropping down into the ground. Cursing silently to himself, Sig lowered his bow but kept absolutely still. Hidden in the bushes and next to a tree, he waited and watched for the other hunter. It didn't take long before a young girl appear to claim her prize. He silently thanked Talos it wasn't bandits or savages. As much as he enjoyed fighting, today wasn't one of those days.
With a sigh, Sigmundr stood up and threw back his hood, revealing his long, slightly curly black hair and goatee. As he walked over to the girl, he nocked another arrow in his bow but didn't draw it. It made sense for him to be wary of a stranger and hoped she didn't take it amiss that he was prepared to draw and fire at her in a matter of seconds. He did have it planned out though; introduce himself, pay respects then go collect his arrow. He idly wondered if he should ask for a slab of meat, as the deer would have been his dinner.
"Ho there, miss. That was a nice shot." He would say when he got within talking range, which would be a couple of meters. He was wearing a mixture of hide, fur and leather armor with his fur cloak thrown around him. A sword and dagger sheathed at his belt with a quiver on his back, peaking out from under his cloak.

Valkari had no note that someone else was hunting this buck. She thought it was just herself, and her alone, but in wilderness this big sometimes she wasn't alone. The first thing that she did when she heard footsteps behind her, was to draw her bow and fire. Turning around, ready to shoot, she just saw a simple hunter coming to greet her and compliment her shot.
"Oh ..." Valkari breathed out, sheathing her arrow and smiling semi sheepishly at the Nordic hunter. "Sorry, thought you for a bandit." She looked back at the dead buck and smirked some. "Thanks. I didn't know you were hunting him as well. Must be pretty darn good at sneaking for me not to hear you."
When hunting, Valkari was at her sharpest in every way, especially sound. Most times she would actually hear someone approach, or even sneak up on her at that. She found it quite impressive that she didn't hear this Nord, despite his size. Truley astonishing some Nords can be.
The young redhead looked back at the buck. "Well, since you were tracking it too, want something off of it?" she asked him with a smile. "I'm sure I don't need all of that meat off of him."
Valkari didn't really need all of the meat. Maybe like half of it she would take and leave the rest for the animals. But, that was a sort of a waste and would rather share it with someone that needed it, like this hunter before her. It was only fair, to her at least.
