HOPE WIND-SONG
nzy, player age, 6+ years on and off
Personality-- As far as talking to Hope goes, her emotional response is rather... subdued. This is because of the portion of her soul taken away. She is left in a fairly robotic state and sees and speaks about things in a very factual way. Her speech is relatively blunt and she doesn't seem to have a sense of etiquette against such directness which makes her socially distant. Hope can be a tad oblivious to most things when she doesn't feel it's important for her to really pay attention to and will remain silent unless addressed. Her lack of social skills makes her unable to recognize her awkwardness unless someone points it out to her. History The Wind-Song family doesn't have much of an eventful history to really speak of. Hope's father, Arlo, was an honest nord that worked hard for as long as he could remember. He was a black smith by trade just like his father, and his father's father, and so on. It was almost a tradition for Arlo's side of the family. His specialty was glass making, and he created some of the most dreamy weaponry and armor one would expect from fairy tales. He met his wife, Naara, on the stony trail making his way to Solitude to deliver a weapon for one of the Blue Palace thanes. Naara was making her way to Winterhold and was being attacked by some thieves. Naara was a fragile breton, not a fighter at all. In fact she was very much the healer in both magicka and in potion craft. Arlo on the other hand was sweet on the ebony axe his grandfather made him when he became of age. As a smith, Arlo was strong, and his axe was stronger. A fine two-handed weapon that got his jobs done. He saved Naara but suffered a bit of a price on his left leg where an arrow made it's way into his ankle. Naara healed him and the two had been inseparable ever since. He was like a protective father figure to her and she his naieve and innocent child, despite their affections. They married in Riften's Temple of Mara and settled down in Winterhold. The war was hard on their family, Naara went to the college of winterhold to fine tune her skills, but left quickly for unknown reasons simply saying "it wasn't for her". Arlo started up a forge and cut wood on the side. The coin was small, but they managed to get by with their own happiness rather than wealth. On one of Winterhold's harshest winters, Naara gave birth to twin girls she named Hope and Faith. Hope, was about 5 minutes older and had the most difficulty during her birth. She didn't look around when she came out like a baby normally would. She stared straight and only turned her head when she heard sounds. She was deemed her blind at birth. Her sister on the other hand came out just fine. They grew up pretty close, as most twins do and did everything together. Their only differences were that Faith seemed more interested in their mother's healing magic and Hope loved listening to her father talk about smithing and how to use certain weapons. Naara didn't like Hope spending too much time in the forge, she thought the girl would hurt herself somehow. But it all changed when she told her mother she could see just fine. Unknowningly, Hope HAD been paying attention when her mother was teaching Faith some magic tricks. And as she listened and practiced on her own time she found that Clairvoyance helped her see. Not in the same sense as someone with sight but in her own way. When she cast the spell, her vision was still entirely black, but she could see the faint mist of blue fire leading her to the places that she wanted to go. Her surroundings would remain black until she heard something or something moved along the ground that created vibrations. When that happened, ripples would start wherever the sound of movement came from, giving a rough outline of what was there and what she should be looking out for. It was extraordinary that Hope found ways around her disability, and her parents no longer doubted that she could take care of herself. They began to shift her life around and teach her things, even if she was blind and fragile. Magic seemed to be what her mother wanted her to focus on the most, the woman was so scared that Hope would still hurt herself somehow. But she prevailed and actually learned faster than her twin sister. However her interests still rested in her father's axe stories and his smithing. She spent much more time with Arlo in his forge, and with enough begging he taught her the ways of the axe. It was the most challenging thing she thought she had ever learned, but she was more that happy to be able to wield a weapon in her state. The thing was heavy, she remembered, and about the same size as her. But with lots of struggling and wounds she figured her way around it and became fairly skillful at axe wielding. Still she kept to her magic as her first priority as it was more convenient for her and only turned to her axe when she needed to. As the family grew on, Hope could remember her parents struggling a bit more with money. Apparently Winterhold had been hit pretty hard with the war and not many people came through the hold less it was for the college. Her mother often told the girls never to go near the college, she had some sort of vendetta towards those mages and didn't like what they were doing up there. Hope, being young and innocent still, didn't know what she was walking into when she ran into a couple of strangers walking through the hold. It was her 9th year and the mages were talking about soul gems. She remembered her father mentioning them for arcane weapons but she didn't know much about them. So she talked to the mages and found their conversation as interesting as her father's. It must have been this moment that made them realize her innocence, they began to mention a project they were working on involving soul gems. Hope had merely smiled when they said she could be a big help and they would pay a lot of coin if she helped them with their research. All she had to do was go to the college with them. Hope had told them she wasn't allowed up there, but they simply assured her that they would speak to her parents, she just needed to come with them. So she agreed. This was the first time fear ever really stuck Hope, she felt wrong suddenly when a man's hand held tightly onto hers and they began to walk away. They didn't talk much, just tried to ease her mind with mindless chit chat. When they reached the college, they changed a bit and it was a shift no one would really notice unless you were blind. The tone of their voices were different, a bit frantic. They were telling Hope to be quiet and to her it felt like they were rushing her somewhere. Before she knew it she was being picked up and strapped down to some sort of hard surface, a table maybe. She could hear a door locking and suddenly her stomach was dropping-- these people were going to hurt her, she realized. These men were awful people and she was only just now realizing it. They hurried her away with lies that her parents would know, but not once did a voice go missing as if someone had left. They got frantic and began locking doors as if they were not supposed to be seen. And now they had her in their clutches. This must be some forbidden project, she realized, something they can't let anyone know about. Hope just couldn't figure out why they would need her for soul gems, not until she remembered what her father said. When people die, they use their souls to fill these gems for weapons. It gives them a sort of advantage... They wanted to kill her for such gems. Hope began to trash around and scream as much as she could, trying to call help to her, screaming that she wanted to go home. But in little time, she was cut with something and suddenly she was sleepy. When she woke up she didn't know where she was, but her mind was processing things differently. The room was quiet, dead quiet, she couldn't even hear breathing of any kind. No papers being moved on written on, nothing. She was alone and laying in a bed somewhere. She sat up slowly, her hands out trying to find something to grasp, maybe find her things. The only thing she got a grip on was some sort of smooth stone in a shape she could only faintly remember-- a shrine to Kynareth with some kind of book next to it. At that point her instinct took over everything and she was up, grabbing the book and feeling her way around the temple. She avoiding areas where she could hear other people and used her clairvoyance to determine where she needed to go. The only thing she knew was that she needed to get outside, ask someone where she was... (and we start her story here ) | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 20px;] Character Name. Hope Wind-Song Age. thirteen Race. breton Sexuality. no sexual preference Faction, Army, or Allegiance. neutral Occupation. nomad Werewolf or Vampire. N/A Major Skills. Illusion-- Apprentice Level, Hope mainly uses Clairvoyance so that she can see. It gives her a path to follow and anything around her that moves creates a vibration that shows up as a rippling pool in her black vision to indicate where things are without seeing what they actually are. Hope will also use calm or frenzy to make her enemies turn against one another or gain some help when she feels she needs the extra hand. Destruction-- Being a Breton, Hope is very talented in the arcane arts and tends to rely on magic in battle. Most of the time she'll stick to spells that spray in a general direction so that she doesn't miss her target. Hope would never cast a throwing spell (like Ice Spike) without first casting Clairvoyance so that she can see WHERE exactly you are. Conjuration-- You'll see Hope conjure a lot when she feels she's about to interact with a threat. This is mostly when she is dealing with more than one target or feels she's not meeting the odds of survival so she will conjure something that will help her to escape. Two-Handed Hope, oddly enough, can fight with a battle axe. YES, the thing is about the same size as her, and YES there is no way she'd be able to wield such a thing. However, the part of her humanity left influences more of a "mind over matter" ideal and she doesn't much pay attention to the weight of the object. Not that she uses it much, she'll only use it when she is out of magic. Weapons, Armor, and Belongings.
