SIGMUNDR TRUE-HEART
vir, 21, 4½ years
» Personality « Traits. + Honorable: Honor is a part of his life, it's in his blood, his lineage. Every True-Heart has been as such; true to their heart, their words and their promises. Sigmundr is the same, doing what he can to not cheat or disrespect another, unless they really deserved it. Even in the face of danger he'd keep to his own personal code and want a fair fight. A good friend or ally could always trust on Sig being there when needed. + Brave: Courage is another trait he inherits from his family lineage. He's brave in the face of danger, fearing little, not even death. He wouldn't want to die but if it came down to it, he could shrug off the possible outcome of losing his life because he believes he'd be joining other warriors in Sovngarde. + Sociable: Sig is nice to those he meets and tries to befriend them. He usually travels alone, lives by himself too, so he is always eager to meet new people in every village or town he comes across. Though he isn't so forthcoming about his own feelings, he'll brush that off and just have fun or try to. It's inevitable that he'll come across those distrustful and aloof people. With them, he'll try to get through with small talk but if rejected, he won't let it hurt his feelings and he'd move on. + Loyal: Gain his friendship and one would always be able to confide in him. Betrayal is something he doesn't believe him and would never do any such thing. His allegiances currently lie with that of Ulfric Stormcloak and his ideals, that Skyrim belongs to the Nords. Insulting him or vehemently opposing those ideals and Sigmundr is likely to get really defensive or violent, it all depends on the situation. This loyalty could extend to people in general, good friends and whatnot, ones he'd defend both verbally and physically. + Disciplined: As a warrior, he's trained himself, as well as training under two different masters, he imposes discipline onto himself and his daily activities. Meditation, stress exercises and physical training. It's affected the way he moves and acts, like that of a warrior. Most of the time, he can keep calm or whenever he feels is rising within him, he tries different things to relax himself and become calm once more. Unless his honor and/or loyalty is gravely insulted, he won't lose his temper or get emotional, or if he willingly chooses to do so. - Stubborn: As with all good traits, there are bad ones too. The most prominent one is his stubbornness. It runs in his family, being hard headed and not liking to admit when wrong. It can be a good thing but most of the time, it'd bad. If he opposes something, he'll stand his ground and fight it to the bloody end. Sometimes he'll outright ignore others when they tell him something he wouldn't want to hear. Not to be mistaken with rebellious, he'll accept someone or something when he comes to terms with it on his own but not before. - Prideful: Sig prides himself in his ability to fight with a blade or hunt and track animals. He tends to brag about his abilities too, not to the point of sheer arrogance but he might be inclined to be skeptical about another person's abilities. He also takes pride in being a True-Heart, claiming the Clan was once legendary way back in the day. There's nothing to fully dispute this claim but neither can it be completely proven. Either way, he takes it personal should someone spit on his honor. - Vindictive: Sigmundr has a very strong sense of vengeance, mostly directed at the Thalmor. Since they oppress the Nords of Skyrim by having the Empire ban the worship of Talos, and arrest those the catch doing so, Sig feels he needs to avenge his kinsmen. If someone does a grave act towards him or a relative/friend and gets away with it, he'll take it personally and strive to find and act on that vengeance. It's one of his failings. - Biased: Another one of his failings. Though he may be honorable, there are things in the world that he views differently, sometimes bad. This prejudice is mostly leveled towards the Mer; Altmer, Bosmer and Dunmer. Mainly because of the Thalmor. Technically Orcs are a part of the Mer but he doesn't see them as Elvenkind so he doesn't innately distrust them. He tries to keep it under wraps but sometimes things just come out. - Secretive: There are things about Sig's life that he keeps a secret. When he isn't drinking or hanging out with old or new friends, he looks something of a loner, by himself and pondering thoughts. Supporting the Stormcloaks is a secret best left uncovered otherwise he could get arrested by Imperials or their allies. His religious alignment to Talos is another he'd rather keep in the dark. There are just things he'd rather not talk about. Likes. † Hunting: Tracking and hunting the animals that inhabit Skyrim is not only Sigmundr's job but something he enjoys. There are probably better paying professions out there but he only supports himself so he gets food doing it as well as some septims from the fur and hide that he sells. † Talos: He isn't a worshiping fanatic but he does pray to Talos on occasion. He hates the Thalmor with a vengeance for getting it banned. † Nature: Living outside for a good portion of his life has made an impression on him. He'd rather sleep outside under a tree or in shrubberies than in a town's Inn. That doesn't mean he won't do it but he prefers to the wilderness over the hustle & bustle of a city. Dislikes. † The Imperial Legion: He hates the Thalmor and by proxy, the Legion too but to a lesser degree, being more of a dislike. Sig supports the Stormcloaks and so he waylays Imperial Couriers and Scouts whenever he gets the chance, as long as he's sure he'd get away without being identified. † Trolls: Nasty, brutish creatures that inhabit caves and mountain areas. Sig has come across plenty and always hates it. He finds them hard to kill and always gets in the way of his hunting. † Thievery: Stealing and thieves in general are on his list. If it's unjustified, he'll frown upon it. He's never stolen before, because he doesn't see it as honorable. Fears. † Thalmor Justiciars: If there is one thing he fears above all else are the Thalmor Justiciars. They roam all across Skyrim, patrolling and rooting out those that worship Talos in secret. Being aligned with Talos himself, Sig wouldn't want to get caught by them. † A woman scorned: Any intelligent, sensible man would know to steer clear of a woman that has gone off the deep end. Don't want to mess with that. Goals. † Join the Stormcloaks: Opposing the Imperials ever since he left his home, what better way could he do it than to join the Stormcloak Rebellion? He procrastinates about it, putting off the actual joining for awhile now. He's just waiting for the right time. † Marriage: Not much of a personal goal than an obligation. He's an only child with a cousin somewhere else. He in that cousin are the only ones of this True-Heart generation. So Sigmundr feels he needs to find a wife and have a few kids to keep the True-Heart bloodline going. » History « Sigmundr was born to two Nords in Falkreath. The father was a blacksmith, Torvar True-Heart and the mother, Isla Ironblood, a warrior. Both Clans were natural warriors and blacksmiths, so those two coming together would make a child destined for greatness. Only the parents had to get over their differences before they could teach Sigmundr anything about his lineage. The True-Hearts are neutral and prefer to be left alone from outside cources while the Ironbloods are aligned with the Legion. Sig had it hard growing up with those two flags looming overhead. Torvar and Isla didn't fight as much as they did when Sigmundr was born, or when he was growing up. They wanted to make a good impression on the boy and being at each others' throats would not be a thing they'd want him to remember. His earliest memory, one that he remembers, was his mother and father arguing which ended with her leaving and never coming back. It was a sad day but it seemed unavoidable. If Sig wasn't so young, Isla probably would of taken him with her. However, since she wanted what was best so he stayed behind with his father. Without Isla around to help care for the kid, Torvar had to raise Sigmundr alone. It was hard, and growing up was rough. When the boy could think on his own, Torvar tried to teach him his trade, that of a blacksmith. Little Sigmundr went along with it, he knew nothing else. For some reason, he didn't find it interesting and always zoned out whenever his father was giving him lessons. Deep down, he felt he was meant for something else, that metalworking wasn't what he was supposed to do. Torvar knew it, knew that his child was going to be a warrior someday but he just couldn't give up. Torvar had escaped from his father to become a blacksmith rather than a mercenary or soldier and he didn't want his son to become a warrior. Around his twelfth year, Sig was visited by a woman with weapons. His father was off doing business elsewhere and this woman started talking to him. Even though his father gave him explicit instructions not to talk to strangers, something about her just drew him in. That and she looked like a warrior and he liked those kinds of people. She stayed in town for awhile and Sigmundr went to hang out with her whenever Torvar was busy with something. It was on a day, about a week after he met her, that his father caught the two of them. At first he was livid but once he realized who the woman was, he calmed down, kind of. The two adults talked for a whole night before telling young Sig who she was, his mother. He was overjoyed, always thinking his mother was dead. He wanted her to stay, so they could be a family again but it wouldn't work out. Isla had obligations elsewhere and Torvar was that interested in her anymore. Now that he was old enough...ish..he wanted to leave with his mother. It was not a brash decision and his parents discussed it. They came to the conclusion that if he wanted to learn about the other part of his family, he could. However, he would have to stay with his father for a few more years. Where Isla went, there was danger and she couldn't do her job and protect young Sigmundr at the same time. Unable to keep it back any longer, Torvar had no choice but to teach Sigmundr about the True-Heart Clan and what he knew of the Ironblood Clan. About four years later, he was old enough to leave on his own. His mother couldn't be there to get him but sent a mercenary to escort him to her. The man was a Redguard, good friends with the boy's mother and a competent warrior. It was going to be a long journey since they had to travel on foot but it would give Sigmundr time to learn more about weapons and fighting. The Redguard's name was Ebon and he become Sig's first master. He taught him how to fight, to wield an assortment of weapons and how to hunt. Much like Ebon, Sigmundr chose the sword as his primary weapon, so he was able to teach Sig much more. The two became good friends. Sigmundr could trust and rely on Ebon and when the young Nord got skilled enough with a weapon, the two fought side by side. There wasn't much they came across that required fighting. Ebon could talk out of most situations like roaming Imperials or bandits. He had a silvertongue that was sharper than his own sword. Nonetheless, there were times they had to fight to survive. After a considerable journey, Ebon and Sigmundr reached their destination, a small camp near Dawnstar. Isla and another companion of hers was there, a Nord by the name of...well, his name was a secret but he went by the alias Seeker. Reunited with his mother at long last, Sigmundr could now travel the land of Skyrim like he always wanted. With strength in numbers, there wasn't much they could run into that would cause too much trouble. As a small mercenary band, they took jobs wherever they could. All three adults educated the young boy when there wasn't fighting. With all the training he had been doing, Sig forgot most of what he learned when he was younger, so it took some effort to recall and relearn it. He paid attention and worked hard, mentally, because he was eager to return to the physical education, and weapons training. Teaching Sig was split between the three adults; Isla, his mother, taught him the general gist of things while Ebon worked on counting and things related to mathematics, though I don't know if it was referred to that but whatever. Which left Seeker with reading and writing. As for fighting and weapons, Isla was also general training, working on other forms. Ebon worked with one-handed weapons, mainly swords. Seeker dual-wielded weapons, usually daggers and showed Sig how to use a dagger in tandem with his sword. He also showed him the bow and how to use it properly. All in all, he was doing good on all fronts, once he caught the hang of things. After spending a year with them, the fateful day came along when his mother, Isla, was slain in battle. Enraged by this, Sig fought harder, trying to kill as many bandits as possible. He chose to ignore the predicament; outnumbered three-to-one and the enemy had a rampaging troll. It was too much for them to handle. Seeker had to restrain Sig and retreat while Ebon cut a swath through the enemies and back into the forest. They were forced to leave Isla's body behind. Because of this, they couldn't give her a proper burial or retrieve any of her equipment. Young Sigmundr was devastated by her death. Ebon and Seeker both knew a day would come when any of them would die but they were still saddened by her passing. With clashing emotions, Sig traveled back home to his father, to give him the news and to mourn. Some years passed since that event, about four and Sigmundr was still living at home. He gave up the life of an adventurer, finally seeing the high risk. Instead of taking up trade of his father, he lazed about the house or did odd jobs for the townsfolk. Ebon and Seeker turned up one day with news, they had avenged Isla and recovered her equipment. It took so long because that group of bandits, which were mercenaries in disguised, had disbanded and spread out. A secret third party had hired a band of mean mercs to confront Isla and kill her if at all possible. They had some information on a lead that could possible unearth this mysterious person that got Isla killed and they wanted to know if Sigmundr wanted to join them. He was going to refuse but Torvar had overheard the conversation. He urged Sig to accept, to fully avenge Isla and to not give up on his true dream. He gifted Sig with an ancient Nord sword, a blade passed down within the True-Heart Clan. Torvar no longer had a use for it, so instead of letting it collect more dust, it would be put to better use in Sig's hands. Finally receiving his father's blessings, Sigmundr gathered his things and left with his friends to journey once more and to uncover the meaning behind Isla's death. Over the next decade, Sigmundr, Ebon and Seeker searched for clues, stalked targets, interrogated suspected people and did what they could to find the truth. Many times they ran into dead ends, became frustrated with being eluded but never once did they give up. Their honor was on the line, and Isla's spirit, may she be resting in peace, wouldn't get closure unless they caught the bastard responsible for it all. Unfortunately for them, the answer was obvious, under their noses the whole time but they just couldn't see it. It was by sheer dumb luck that Sigmundr bumped into a drunkard in a tavern in Riften. The man was an old geezer, known by a lot as Gavan Liferender but Sig knew him as Gavanor Ironblood or Grandfather. The man was his mother's father. At his age and all the booze in him, Gavanor's blurry vision mistook Sigmundr for his own father, as he resembled him with his beard and long hair. Being drunk and all, Gavanor thought his father was back from the grave to haunt him for his sins. It turned out that Gavanor had his fathered assassinated to he could inherit the Seat as the Ironblood Clan's Patriarch. Sig had helped his grandfather out of the tavern and into the nearby alley to continue the conversation alone. Still believing Sig was his father, Gavanor spilled more dangerous secrets. Most of them were shady deals between the Ironbloods and other shady people but the one that stuck out, Gavanor had hired the mercenaries to seek out and kill Isla, his own daughter. He was getting on in his years at the time and his successor would have to be named. Isla was his only child and she was a woman, the Ironblood Clan never had a Matriarch before and he could allow it to happen. To protect his Seat, he had her killed. It was as simple as they. A greedy man wanted to stay in power to the end, so he offed his own daughter. He was unaware that she had children, much less Sigmundr, so the Clan's head seat would go to Sigmundr even though he was officially a True-Heart. Now that he had found the worm behind it all, he sent messengers to Ebon and Seeker, who were digging up information elsewhere and were to meet Sig at secret camp four. After a few days, Gavanor had been given time to sober up and just in time to meet Ebon and Seeker while also hearing the news Sig had. With it all out in the open, Gavanor showed his roots by trying to justify what he had done, that it was all for the good of the Ironbloods, that she would of ruined it. The one that stung the most, "it's what she would of wanted." Oh no, Ebon went crazy and went to town on the old man with his fists. Even though the cretin deserved it and more, they couldn't kill him. Seeker and Sig both were needed to restrain the berserking Redguard. Instead of executing him on the spot, Sig, Ebon and Seeker took Gavanor to the Ironblood Fort, the Clan's home base and presented the charges to that family. With Ebon's and Seeker's words, Gavanor couldn't talk his way out, not against both of them, since they were honored and trusted by more than half the Clan. The three of them left the old man to be executed by the Ironblood Clan and made to leave. By his right, Sigmundr was to inherit the Patriarch Seat of the Ironbloods but he turned it down. It instead went to one of the branch families. From there, the three of them parted ways, to travel elsewhere and lend their hand to those that needed it. Over the next couple of years, not much happened. Ebon left Skyrim to travel back to his homeland. Seeker took a nasty head wound and became blind, so he married a caring Nord woman. Sig himself, he chose to continue traveling, to old and new places, taking jobs whenever possible. With the war going on, Stormcloaks versus the Imperial Legion, Sig chose the former's side and does what he can to hinder the Imperials, if he can get away clean. It isn't much but it's enough to sate his inner desire to help free Skyrim of the Empire. | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 20px;] Character Name. Sigmundr True-Heart Age. Thirty-two Race. Nord Sexuality. Heterosexual Faction, Army, or Allegiance. N/A currently, supports the Stormcloaks Occupation. Hunter Werewolf or Vampire. N/A Major Skills. → One-Handed: Probably Sigmundr's best trained skill. He prefers the use of a sword, which he is quite proficient with but can use a dagger almost as deftly. Through his life, Sig has trained with two others that are skilled in the use of one-handed weapons. He came to learn two different styles, a swift offensive form using only his sword and a hybrid one with his sword and dagger in tandem. When it comes down to it, he'll opt to use the former style as he's more comfortable with it. → Block: Even though he doesn't have a shield, Sig can use his sword to block some attacks done by an enemy. Though not as reliable as with a shield, he has come to be a competent blocker, mainly against those with weapons too. → Archery: His primary profession is that of a hunter, living off the land and selling meats&hide in towns as a way to gain gold. Because of this, he worked on the skill of wielding a bow, yet another he takes pride in. Though mostly used to shoot a stationary animal, he gain hit a moving one with some concentration. If a situation demanded it, he could drop his honor momentarily to fire upon human targets from afar. That doesn't happen often, maybe thirty percent of the time, or less. → Light Armor: Ah yes, the skill in using armor of the light variety. Even though he has the build for heavy, he chooses this over that for mobility and so his agility isn't hindered. It may not be as good as steel and such, he moves fast enough to avoid most threatening blows that it doesn't really matter. → Hardiness: Having spent roughly ten years wandering and traveling, Sig came to learn to live off the land, survive the harshest weather and still come out on top. His body is stronger because of this, able to go for a few days with little food or water and still work at a high percentage, about mid-eighties. His stamina is boosted too, not by an excessive amount but it makes a difference in the long run. With his Nordic physiology, he's that much tougher than others. Some pain can be brushed off, ignored even, allowing him to take a decent amount of punishment while dishing out his own. → Tracking: As a hunter, it's only logical to have a skill devoted to tracking his prey. He's probably just as good at it as wielding a sword. He has been known to track a buck for a week through a blizzard. Probably not the smartest thing to do but it shows his skill and perseverance when it comes to that. He can also track humans and such, the workings being different but he can pull it off nonetheless. Weapons, Armor, and Belongings. † Ancient Nord Sword: A weapon kept from a long time ago. Sig came by his through inheritance. It was his father's and his father's father's and his father's father's father's and so forth, going back a few more generations. It's kept in good condition. It has a hand-and-a-half hilt, the blade itself being a few inches wide with a slight curve near the tip. It's sharp on one edge and seems to have cracks running along it but it's far from fragile. It also has a plain leather sheath that attaches to his belt. † Hunting Bow w/quiver: A bow used for hunting, go figure. It's made of some sturdy wood and is basically a recurve bow. It straightens out when drawn, allowing for stronger and farther shots with such a compact appearance. He has a quiver of iron arrows to go with it, about fifty, a good solid number. The quiver is molded out of leather with some pieces of wood to keep it in one shape. † Iron Dagger: Mainly used for skinning and cutting animals, Sig can use it in tandem with his sword for a dual-wield fighting style, or just by itself whenever he feels like shanking somebody. He keeps it nice and sharp with his repair kit, as it becomes dull a lot. It has a balanced weight, a handle just big enough for his hand and a decently sized blade, sharp on both edges with a fine point. It's not ornate, just a plain dagger. It comes with a small hide sheath and sits near his sword on his belt. † Sig's Armour: Aside from his clothes, Sigmundr has an assortment of hide, fur and leather armor. First and foremost if his Hide body armor, which mainly covers his lower body and waist though it does have two wide straps in a 'X' pattern across his chest and back with a circular metal disc smack dab in the center of his lower chest/upper abdomen. Next are his fur gauntlets, mostly used out of warmth than anything else but they do offer some minor protection. Then he has a pair of leather boots, ones that reach all the way up to his knees. Finally, though as an afterthought, he does own a hide helmet but almost never wears it, unless going into battle. † Fur Cloak: Something he always has on, a cloak made of fur and hide, from multiple wolves actually. It's nothing fancy, a slim cloak that goes all the way down to his ankles, fur on the outside and along the hems with the hide on the inside. The hood itself is probably the only area that has fur on the inside and outside, for added warmth. It's rather cozy. † Satchel: A side bag with a strap, made of leather with fur running along the strap. It holds his necessities; a whetstone wrapped in a hide rag, dried meat, rock salt, a tinderbox, some spare clothes, his coin purse, a map of Skyrim and his family's signet ring. A bedroll is strapped to the outside of the bag. It consists of a fur throw with a piece of hide that can be folded and used as a pillow. When not in use, it's all bundled together, tied with a leather strap then inserted into a small canvas sack, to protect it from weather and keep it clean. That sack is then strapped to the satchel as mentioned before. |
