NAJELA
echofael | 25 | ~12 years
Personality Najela is a blunt, no-nonsense woman with a thorough grasp of what it takes to annoy the Oblivion out of everyone around her. Most people think she does it on purpose (she does) and it takes a great deal of respect on her part to get anything from her that isn't a sharp retort. She has an extreme dislike for authority (she does what she wants!) and it's only the promise of gold and a grudging respect for Brynjolf that keeps this Redguard from just quitting the Thieves Guild altogether. Her goals include owning her own house, filling this house with trophies, having a horker farm, getting some horkers brought to the lake in Riften, and finally stepping out of her older sister's shadow. Some of these goals are much more realistic than others. Najela's attitude has a lot to do with an amazingly thick set of walls that she builds around herself. The only person who knows any details into her past is her sister, and the two women don't exactly do a lot of talking at the moment. If you ask her a question about herself expect an insult; if you ask her and she likes you, expect an outright lie. The most a friend would ever get from her is a decrease in cold verbal barbs and general acceptance of the other person's presence. The Redguard thief isn't entirely unapproachable, thank the gods. She's got a sense of humor laden with sarcasm, and she loves giving others a hard time, especially if she likes them even a little. And, if you know her weak spots ( Also she likes to read, but she also tries to keep this a secret. Her older sister loves reading and Najela does not want to seem like she's following Amazeera's footsteps at all. Plus her taste in literature is a bit...raunchier than her siblings'. Likes- Gold, being amazing, privacy, Brynjolf, HORKER MEAT Dislikes- Being talked down to, hagravens, werewolves, failing, being shown up, the cold Preferred food- Naj' learned to cook early, so she likes flavorful meals with lots of variety. Also HORKER MEAT. Preferred drink- She likes exotic drinks; as of right now she's very partial to Talon-jei's Velvet LaChance History Najela was born the youngest of two in the city of Rihad, a major port near the border of Hammerfell and Cyrodiil. There her father made a good living as a smith, selling his wares to the influx of travelers and making repairs for sailors. Najela and her older sister, Amazeera, were always notably different in temperament; the former was obedient but ambitious, talented at most everything she tried. Naj? She was a sly little troublemaker. Amazeera spent many of her days with their Pa, learning the art of smithing and training with the swords he made. Najela spent her days trying to set herself apart from big sis. Whereas the older sibling learned bladework, Najela set out to learn archery. Amazeera smithed with her father; Najela learned to cook and bake with her mother. Yet it never seemed to be good enough, for every triumph that Naj made was always overshadowed by something her sister did. Her parents always praised them equally, but Najela was a clever child and she heard the way the neighbors talked. Everyone saw Amazeera as the golden child. Our little Redguard was twelve years old when Rihad began to be plagued by a werewolf. Initially it was just a rumor, but as months passed and the guards failed to catch the beast, the locals began to grow more and more frightened. No one went out at dusk, let alone night time, and the city officials even began to debate on whether or not to shut the port down until the werewolf could be eliminated. On one fateful night, Najela's mother became the werewolf's last victim. The tragedy struck the family hard, and for the first time the sisters had something they agreed on. Both girls developed a strong hatred for werewolves, with Amazeera even declaring her intentions to join the Vigilants of Stendarr. She was gearing to do just that when the dragons began to attack Skyrim, and the ever-honorable woman decided they were the bigger threat. She left Hammerfell and, last Najela heard, had joined the Companions in Whiterun. Something in Naj nagged at her. Before she knew it she also found herself going to Skyrim, although she wasn't sure why. Maybe, despite all of her grudging feelings toward her sister, the young Redguard wasn't used to not having her around. Still she made a point to head in the opposite direction with her life, and Naj had always been a woman with an eye for gold. A savvy redhead in Riften managed to convince her to join the Thieves Guild, and after deciding that she liked the way Brynjolf called her "lass," she agreed. She's been a thief and (mainly) a pickpocket ever since. Amazeera thinks she's a mercenary. Sssh. Oh yeah, and Najela was in Helgen when the dragon attacked. She was hoping the distraction of "WE HAVE REBELS AND OMFG ULFRIC" would make it easy to pick everyone's pockets. It did until everything caught on fire, and she's lucky she made it out with nary a scratch. | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 20px;] Character Name Najela Age 27 Race Redguard Sexuality Heterosexual Faction, Army, or Allegiance Thieves Guild Occupation Thief Werewolf or Vampire N/A Major Skills Pickpocketing- Najela is easily one of the guild's best pickpockets. When she was younger she would use it as a sort of "performance trick" for the guards; she was able to empty their pockets unnoticed with them expecting her to do it. She's taken necklaces right off of the necks of noblewomen and she even cleaned out Brynjolf's pockets a few times, just to show off. Now she gets paid very well to take your belongings right off your person, and she's yet to be caught. Archery- It's strange for a Redguard, yes, but Najela's chief weaponry talent is with a bow. She may not be Aela of the Companions, but her shot is true and you don't want to be on the receiving end of one of her arrows. In a pinch she can even use the bow itself as a sort of melee weapon, at least to block incoming blades. Cooking- Yes, cooking. Much of Najela's childhood was spent cooking with her mother while big sis and Pa worked the forge, so this Redguard knows her way very well around a pot. She's still getting used to the difference in ingredients between Hammerfell and Skyrim, but suffice it to say her dishes are still better than what most folk can whip up. Sneaking- She's a thief. Anything more need to be said? Alchemy- It falls along the same lines as cooking, so it's safe to say that Najela has the handle on brewing a decent potion. She chiefly makes Resist Frosts for herself (she hates the cold) on top of the standard health potions. She's also getting into making poisons; what better to kill with than poison-tipped arrows? Plus then she can shoot people in the knees and it'll still be fatal. Speechcraft- Najela is a very, very, very good liar. She may not be the most charming person ever, but she can trick even the most observant of people into believing whatever story she unravels. Weapons/Armor/Personal Belongings Ancient Elven Bow- Smithed by her father based on sketches he'd seen from historian drawings, Najela's bow resembles something the old Snow Elves might have had. It's her pride and joy. Don't touch it. Dwarven Daggers- Just in case she needs them. She only has two, but they've come in handy a few times. Custom Armor- Also made by her father. Looks like this, minus the helmet. Leather Armor- For when she has to be a sneak thief. Small Satchel of Food/Ingredients- Yeah, she collects stuff to cook with while she travels. Small bag of books- Including the Lusty Argonian Maid series, as well as several Bestiary books and Horker Attacks. |
