AMALIE SOUL-SONG
kent, 21, three and a little years
Personality Amalie's current self is a result of a girl with zeal and adventurousness being stifled over the course of time to a point where she, though still wanting to live life in the same way that she did as a younger woman, has started to prematurely age. No, she's not some old biddy sitting back and knitting her complaints into a blanket, but she almost acts at times as if the best parts of her life have already passed her and she might as well settle into a routine. Flashes of the younger Amalie are still highly prevalent - and she has many of the same skills and the same personality - but they are just that, flashes of a more interesting woman in between the noblewoman whose human interaction is typically with the people working her pastures or with the occasional Stormcloak passing through. Amalie, though, is not angry at people for pushing her into her little box of existence, though she certainly has no love for Imperials, Thalmor, or even her own birth family that has chosen to take the sides of those Imperials. With the typical person, though, she's perhaps a bit firm and overbearing. She does have quite a temper, but malicious she is not. In fact, she's prone to be quite a kind person when everyone around her is acting as if they have some sense. She's developed an ability to keep people in line from having to deal with her husband and the people that worked his land. Even people she probably shouldn't have a right to keep in line often find themselves getting directions from her from time to time. People occasionally tell her that her strong personality in social interactions could get her in trouble sometimes; she doesn't particularly care if it does or not. Morally, Amalie is not above revenge or similar repayments to people who are genuinely bad to her. To others, though, she's usually as harmless as a fly...who might bite a few times, but never seriously act with cruelty. She's honest in the business that her husband ran, thinking herself as true a Nord as Ulfric Stormcloak for doing business honorably. That said, she's not above white lies, but overall Amalie likes the idea of not turning into the same kind of people who serve on the other side of the war. She wants to be known as a good, respectable Nord, even if she wishes she needed no reputation and could have a bow and freedom in her grasp. History Amalie was lucky enough to be born the second child of a rather influential bard of Solitude's Bard College. Lucky, however, is not how a girl who would have much rather lived the life of a more traditional Nord instead of that of a noble would describe her early life. Though a relatively curious bundle of energy as a child, she would often be relegated to learning reading and speaking skills all while cooped up in the family's Solitude lodging. Though she did get along agreeably well with both parents, she did prove to be quite rebellious, with some mutual stress being shared among them due to their differing interests. Amalie nonetheless often had her way, finding ways to learn and participate in the various activities of the poorer Nord children. Occasionally the ways in which she chose to participate got her punished like the poorer Nord children, too. It was when she grew a little older and her parents became increasingly forceful on her - getting her to participate in activities at the Bards College regularly and attend it consistently for schooling - that her interest moved towards being romantically interested in the poorer Nords living in Solitude. She became attached to a slightly older cook's apprentice and would often skip out on her training at the Bards College to join him in the kitchen when she could manage to slip away. Once her parents found out, they attempted to stop her, brewing up some somewhat additional bad blood between them at times, though it was mostly Amalie being the typical rebellious teenager. When the rebellion continued, her parents took more brash actions, unwilling to see her marry into a lower class. They organized a marriage for her with a man ten years older who had recently inherited his father's lands in eastern Skyrim. She adamantly refused the arrangement, but the apprentice who had held her interests, in fear of her family's influence, would not agree to marry her either. It was almost on the heels of pure bitterness that she then agreed to the marriage and went through with it, though she had convinced herself that she would be doomed to unhappiness. With whispers about a coming war already beginning to take to Skyrim, though, she admittedly thought she could find her way out of it by becoming a scout or soldier if war did break out. She chose to bide her time, tolerating being the wife of a rich landowner, until the war started. Her husband would ruin her idea by choosing to join the Stormcloaks himself in spite of his money and prestige, leaving her behind to manage the lands. Though she was glad to be on her own and contributing to the war effort, she found herself just as tied to the lands as she had previously been to her husband. With the Stormcloaks needing the family's pastureland, she was kept tied to the manor almost all day and all night. The life proved even more miserable to her than it had before, though she lived comfortably and had everything that she needed. It all came to a head a month before Ulfric's capture, when she would receive word that her husband had died in combat after being hunted down by the Imperials. She could grieve once his body was recovered and buried on his lands, yes, but through her grief was checked by the knowledge in the back of her mind that she could be free again, perhaps after the war when the lands that now belonged to her were not needed. For the moment, she has chosen to remain cooped up in the manor she's lived in for the past eight years, supporting the Stormcloak cause. | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 20px;] Character Name. Amalie Soul-Song Age. 26 Race. Nord Sexuality. Heterosexual Faction, Army, or Allegiance. Stormcloaks Occupation. Agister Werewolf or Vampire. N/A Major Skills. +Archery: Amalie was utterly determined in her youth to learn how to shoot a bow, and to shoot a bow well. She was so determined and eager to learn that she arguably became one of Solitude's best shots with a bow by the time she neared adulthood, especially from horseback. Her experience with a bow on her hands has recently been only to shoot at targets in her spare time, but she's arguably not lost much to her skill. +Light Armor: Along with her determination to learn how to shoot a bow came her determination to hunt alongside many of her own people, despite her parents being more interested in her wearing dresses instead of armors. She nonetheless had her way at times, and whenever she could indulge herself in nature or other activities, she always went for light, freeing armor. +One-Handed: Amalie learned to swing a one-handed weapon without any prompting when she found a dulled, ceremonial dagger owned by her father and proceeded to become interested in any kind of similar weapon. +Speech: Having come from a family that became famous due to their skills as bards, Amalie was essentially tied to the proverbial chair at times to learn the proper ways to speak, recite poetry, and sing. She was always fairly good at all these things, but never cared enough to fully master them. +Organization: Due to necessity, both before and after her husband died, Amalie has learned to manage all aspects of the lands that he owned, as well as the money and negotiations that it takes to keep everything running smoothly. She does not enjoy it very often. Weapons, Armor, and Belongings. +Glass Dagger of Stunning: Though Amalie does own several bows, the only weapon that she typically carries with her at all times is an enchanted glass dagger that she purchased from a traveling caravan sometime after marrying her husband. It's typically only used for the momentary need to discourage some attacker. +Fine Leather Armor: At the times she can sneak away to otherwise entertain herself, Amalie does have a set of leather armor that she used as a younger woman stored away, thought it's a bit more of a tighter fit now. +Tyr: Amalie's rather old horse who has been her companion ever since she was old enough to appreciate having a horse. He's clearly not as fast or energetic as he once was, but she's never considered claiming another one though there are a few on her husband's land. |
