SENEX CORIOLANUS
kent, 21, 3 years
Personality One shouldn't have a hard time perceiving Senex's personality if they take a look at the constant expression of cool confidence that seems to remain plastered on his face at all times. Senex always thinks himself in complete control of all scenarios and situations, and most of the time he's quite right - there's little able to rattle him beyond the most extreme of situations, though he is assertive and firm as opposed to unaffected and boring. In fact, he may be too sharp at times, making him rather infuriating in combination with his obvious indifference towards panic. Senex, however, does have a temper that he will flash at times in short bursts, but those bursts tend to be quite potent at times. Senex doesn't have an extreme amount of difficulty with killing, especially killing people that he designs as being "opposed" to him in some way. Senex has quite a shifting moral compass, though more often than not he'll react fairly honorably to things, unless he can gain a great advantage through such an action. At those times, the temper can be advantage or detriment. Either way, there's no doubt Senex is a man who loves being in control of his destiny. History Born into a merchant family in Cyrodiil as the eldest of three children, Senex Coriolanus became acquainted with a life of dealing from an early age. As they owned a fairly prosperous shipping and trading business in the Imperial City, Senex had an opportunity for both social and educational development. He received the most lengthy schooling of his three siblings before taking up a small position in the family business that allowed him to generate his own coin over time. And generate coin he would, as less-savory members of the merchant group showed him the ways to maximize his income. Senex, being as young as he was, was sloppy, though, and it was only an educational opportunity that saved him from his families' discoveries of the illegal work he was doing. A rich friend of the family offered Senex an opportunity to join a group of other young adults in an educational experience that would see them touching every corner of Tamriel. Though Senex did enjoy home, he accepted the offer. After going through light training under members of the Imperial army to learn how to properly combat any situations that might result from their exploration, Senex set off with the group and spent differing intervals in Hammerfell, High Rock, Skyrim, Morrowind, and the Summerset Isles. Obviously the journey saw him aboard many a sailing ship heading to and fro. Having already had some experience from the ship his family owned, Senex became highly interested in acquiring a ship of his own. Upon returning the Imperial City to find his family still upset with his previous methods of gaining more coin than he was due, Senex started by joining the crew of a separate merchant ship. He stayed only long enough to learn in detail the way to sail a ship and to gain enough money to buy his own. Senex bought his Lady Ardent and did what any man would do - flaunted it a little, earning both the attention of women and a crew - before getting down to business. Senex advertised himself as something of a "protector of goods" in order to find work for his crew and his ship. He first found himself involved in menial tasks as primarily a part of Imperial convoys taking supplies out to their holdings. Seeking greater control over his fate, he attempted to become a self-supporting ship working for hire by those needing passage or wishing to smuggle small amounts of goods on ships carrying other cargo - these ideas didn't prove much more effective, though Senex did gain some much greater recognition by working for several important members of Imperial aristocracy and, on a couple of occasions, the Thalmor. It was once the war promised to start in Skyrim that Senex took his crew there for the work they'd been looking for. He was granted a contract by the government to work for them in some measure of counter-piracy as a singular ship tracking down individual Stormcloak or unaffiliated ships that were causing trouble in the time preceding and during the war. Senex earned quite a good bit of prestige in such a capacity, and during a visit to deliver stolen goods back to Whiterun, he was provided a chance to perform a task set upon him by the court wizard in the wake of the dragon's appearance. Taking his crew, as no one else stepped forward with interest in the work, Senex and his men cleared the barrow - with a good amount of difficulty - and recovered the stone spoken of, bringing it back to Whiterun. Only recently was he called to court and named thane for such an action and his assistance to the Imperials on the seas, a title which he had no issues with accepting, considering his appreciation of prestige. | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,border-radius: 0px 0px 20px 20px;] Character Name. Senex Coriolanus Age. 31 Race. Imperial Sexuality. Heterosexual Faction, Army, or Allegiance. None Occupation. Former contract sailor; currently Thane of Whiterun Werewolf or Vampire. N/A Major Skills. +One-Handed: Senex has had considerable training, both private and in combat situations, utilizing one-handed weapons to fight. He was considered among his crew, and now among those in Whiterun who know their way around a blade, as one of the best fighters with a sword in his hand that they've seen in their time, and while there are certainly stronger and perhaps faster foes, there are few as opportunistic. The fact that he'll fight a little dirty only helps. +Speech: A brilliant wheeler-and-dealer, Senex can charm, command, mislead, negotiate, and argue with mostly anyone. He usually prefers the tongue before the sword, and oftentimes it proves effective. It's also helped him to ensure his own interests. +Alchemy: One might not imagine that Senex is a good alchemist, but his educational journey through Skyrim has trained him in the creation of, primarily, poisons. He has never shied away from using his creations. +Block: Senex, in addition to his skill with a blade in general, is also a master at being generally annoying in a fight and making his opponent become overly aggressive due to his propensity for blocking the attacks of opponents. He's become quite adept at using that aggression to disarm an opponent. +Light Armor: Senex greatly prefers the freedom allowed him by lighter armor than the clunkier armor that would defend him more capably, but only gets in his way. Give him a set of light armor and he's all set. +Sneak: Though not the stealthiest of men, Senex nonetheless knows how to strategically keep himself concealed if a situation calls for such matters. Where he really excels is blending into crowds or managing to disguise himself, a task he's developed over time. Weapons, Armor, and Belongings. +Ebony Sword of Shocking: Being of above average wealth and unopposed to taking a weapon off of a deceased body, Senex has come across a very nice sword enchanted with magic that he keeps well-maintained at all times and uses really as his only weapon of choice, though he does carry a few unimpressive daggers. +Gilded Armor: In combat scenarios, Senex dons light armor with a touch of metallic armoring to it that proves effective in absorbing impact from poorly crafted or lighter weapons. +The Lady Ardent: The ship that Senex owns resides somewhere in between the larger merchant vessels and the smaller, lightly crewed vessels that many Nords seem to prefer. It's light enough to hold its own with the smaller ships, but requires a crew of roughly eleven to run at its full capacity. Gallus also often keeps a small array of archers on the ship when at sail, putting his typical crew at around sixteen men. |
